WELCOME!! to the greatest blog of all time, about time. The Blog of everyones dreams has finally been started. Though this blog may be the greatest of all times, it is not meant to overshadow the clock tower project, but to inform people of what is happening with the project. Please don't shy away from this blog thinking that it will be nothing but laboriously extravagent engineering jargon. We aim to update the public on the project in interesting and fun ways, incluing sketches, cartoons, anecdotes, polls, surveys, short stories, jokes, and even the occasional wordplay.
We are designing three basic aspects of a clock tower. Chris Wyenberg is working on the clock controller circuitry, Ashley Prins is working on the gearing of the clock, and Craig Bielema is working on a solar calendar and sun dial that will be incorporated in the tower.
So, strap in tight, hold on, and enjoy the ride as we take you, our reader, on a rollercoaster ride of what it is like to be involved in a senior design project of an amazing clock tower.

Time to start posting, fellas and fellina. It's already a quarter past January!
How traditional or radical should Dordt's clock tower be? (Assuming there will be a new clock tower.)
Should it be traditional like Big Ben?
Should it have the largest clock face in the world? If so it needs to be bigger than this one in Milwaukee. One minute hand alone weighs 530 pounds.
Should it have carvings on it like the one at seattle pacific university?
Should it be a funky shape like the "Dragon Clock" a the Fine Arts High-School in Crystal MN?
Since the days are short during several of the months when classes are in session, what will the clock look like at night? Will it be illuminated by floodlight or will it have internal illumination?
Maybe it should have a fountian underneath it?
What would really reflect the characther of Dordt College? Maybe something like the clock tower at Dordrechct?
I'm liking the Dordrecht idea. Here, for a closer-up shot of the face (taken with my 0x zoom digital camera!).
